Our Story

Dot Dash Write came about by happy chance.

Clare had been working with her three-year-old stepdaughter, Eve, to help her learn to write her name. One day, as Eve struggled with forming letters, Clare drew dots and dashes to shape an uppercase E on paper. Eve immediately connected the markings, successfully wrote the E, and eagerly wanted to try again and again.

Excited by this breakthrough, Clare shared the idea with her friend Julia, a graphic designer. Together, they created engaging practice pages for Eve. With continued use, Eve quickly gained confidence and began writing her name and other words using the dot dash method.

This success sparked an idea: what if other children could learn this way too? Thus, Dot Dash Write was born.

Dot Dash Write is a series of workbooks designed for young children, starting at age three, to help them learn to read and write. By connecting familiar dots and dashes, children build confidence and soon feel comfortable writing independently.

Each workbook features a variety of practice words and includes additional educational elements to enhance the learning experience. For instance, Dot Dash Write Animals is filled with fun facts about animals, a world map showing their continents, and more.

While the workbooks are enjoyable on their own, they are especially fun when shared with an adult.

We hope you enjoy our Dot Dash Write workbooks as much as we enjoyed creating them for Eve—and for you.
